FORT KINNAIRD RETAIL PARK

FORT KINNAIRD RETAIL PARK, EDINBURGH
CASE STUDY

When approached by British Land they were keen to implement LED technology throughout the car parks but at the same time improve the quality of the lighting for their customers and for CCTV purposes. The retail park offers a vast selection of shops and eating establishments which operates 7 days a week, so a customer presence in the area is relatively high.

The site utilised 6 high mast columns each using a mixture of 600w and 1000w high pressure sodium lamps to illuminate car park phases 1 and 2 of the site whilst phase 3 car park was utilising 26 no. 400w metal halide lamps. Following the lighting survey, we felt there was a real opportunity to not only enhance the night time environment but also dramatically reduce the sites energy consumption.
🡆 Improve lighting to comply with British standard guidelines.
🡆 Our 500w and 800w Titan II floodlight were implemented to replace the existing high mast fixtures in car parks within phase 1 & 2.
🡆 Achieved in excess of 20 lux maintained average at ground level.
🡆 The Kracken area luminaire running at 170w were utilised to replace 26 x existing 400w metal halide fittings on existing 6m columns.
🡆 Lighting levels achieved in excess of 20 lux average.
🡆 Control system implemented across the site so that all fittings can be controlled wirelessly allowing the client to set up schedules, monitor luminaires as well as energy usage and adjust lumen output when required.
